We deliver innovative and personalized event production solutions that create memorable experiences by offering in-person, virtual, and hybrid event strategy, creative services, and production management, all while utilizing cutting-edge technology.

Our History

Passion and Purpose

From 1998 through 2015, two event producers served the San Diego area, becoming the go-to entertainment company for everything from Social, Wedding, and Association to production providers in the Restaurant, Corporate, and Festival environment.

After years of expansion throughout the greater Southern California area, and taking on large National and International events together, the co-founders, Tim Altbaum and Eric Mueller decided it was time to launch Vario in 2015, a full-scale event production company, headquartered in San Diego, with a global reach.

Bios

Tim Altbaum, CEO, CMP, CSEP, HMCC, CMM

Tim is a successful business leader, award-winning special event producer, and technology expert, with a reputation for spearheading groundbreaking event production management. He has over 25 years of experience growing his business from the ground up while leading a team of experts that aim to create memorable event experiences. He has a Master’s Degree in Network Security, a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience from the University of California San Diego, and holds several designations such as a CSEP, CMP, HMCC, and CMM.

As the CEO of Vario, his goals include bringing new and innovative experiences to meetings and events. He achieves this by combining new ideas and years of experience with cutting-edge technology to include Hybrid/Virtual Platform, Experiential Marketing, Projection-Mapping, Holograms, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He is actively involved in the community and has served as a board member of NACE and is currentlyl the President-Elect for the Dallas/Fort Worht Chapter of MPI.

Eric Mueller, President Eric has over 2 decades of experience in the event industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business – Marketing Management from Virginia Tech. From an early age, Eric has developed his catering and event experience while working alongside his parent’s company in Washington, DC. Throughout his career, he has also had the opportunity to be exposed to events like the Super Bowl and Republican/Democratic National Conventions which inspired him to pursue his own path and follow his passion into the production side of the industry.

Eric’s successful business ventures in the event industry have given him a keen eye for creating memorable events while providing hands-on event production expertise and personal care to all clients, large and small. His ability to see the big picture while also mastering the fine details has helped him to strategically plan and coordinate events ranging from high-profile galas, corporate conferences, nonprofit fundraisers, complex trade shows, festivals, and grand opening celebrations to name a few. As the President of Vario, Eric strives to have a cohesive, well-oiled machine as the backbone of this organization, while continually growing the company in a family-filled, socially conscious, and inclusive environment that creates a welcoming feeling at every touchpoint, helping make Vario successful today and in the years to come.
