From 1998 through 2015, two event producers served the San Diego area, becoming the go-to entertainment company for everything from Social, Wedding, and Association to production providers in the Restaurant, Corporate, and Festival environment.
After years of expansion throughout the greater Southern California area, and taking on large National and International events together, the co-founders, Tim Altbaum and Eric Mueller decided it was time to launch Vario in 2015, a full-scale event production company, headquartered in San Diego, with a global reach.

Tim is a successful business leader, award-winning special event producer, and technology expert, with a reputation for spearheading groundbreaking event production management. He has over 25 years of experience growing his business from the ground up while leading a team of experts that aim to create memorable event experiences. He has a Master’s Degree in Network Security, a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience from the University of California San Diego, and holds several designations such as a CSEP, CMP, HMCC, and CMM.
As the CEO of Vario, his goals include bringing new and innovative experiences to meetings and events. He achieves this by combining new ideas and years of experience with cutting-edge technology to include Hybrid/Virtual Platform, Experiential Marketing, Projection-Mapping, Holograms, Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He is actively involved in the community and has served as a board member of NACE and is currentlyl the President-Elect for the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of MPI.
